Free float and pattern check

CS2 float checker

Paste the inspect link of a CS2 skin to read its exact float value, exterior, pattern seed, Doppler phase, stickers and charms. Then open it in the 3D viewer.

Updated

Right-click a skin in your Steam inventory or on the market, choose Inspect in Game and copy the link. Links from trading sites work too.

Free. New inspect links are unlimited for normal use; old links: 5 per day per network.

What is a pattern seed?

The pattern seed, also called paint seed or pattern template, is a number from 0 to 1000 that decides where the texture lands on the weapon. For most skins it changes little. For Case Hardened, Fade, Crimson Web, Marble Fade and Doppler finishes it decides the look and can change the price many times over: a blue gem Case Hardened or a max fade Karambit is a specific seed.

The paint index identifies the finish itself. For Doppler and Gamma Doppler knives it also identifies the phase, such as Ruby, Sapphire or Black Pearl.

How to find an inspect link

In your Steam inventory select the item, open the menu next to its name and choose Inspect in Game. Copy the link that starts with steam://. On the Steam Community Market, right-click the Inspect in Game button of a listing and copy the link address.

Since 2025 CS2 writes the item data into the link itself, so new links are read instantly. Older links without that data need a request to Steam's Game Coordinator, which is slower and limited.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good float in CS2?

Lower is cleaner. A float under 0.01 is a rare low float for Factory New skins and often sells at a premium. Some skins have a limited float range, so the lowest possible float differs by skin.

Does float change when I use a skin?

No. The float is fixed when the item is created and never changes, no matter how much you play with it.

Can I check the float of a skin I do not own?

Yes. Any inspect link works: from another player's public inventory, a market listing or a trading site.

Why does an old inspect link take longer?

Old links only contain item IDs. The float has to be requested from Steam's Game Coordinator, which answers one request at a time per bot.
